About TPP

Who We Are

A student-led music and philanthropy organization.

The Philanthropic Playlist is a student organization at the University of Illinois that brings students together through music, performance, and service. We are built around the idea that music can do more than entertain — it can create community, raise awareness, and support meaningful causes.

Our Mission

Turning music into meaningful impact.

Our mission is to use music as a way to connect students with charitable causes. Through rehearsals, performances, and fundraising efforts, we aim to build a welcoming community while supporting local organizations and initiatives that make a positive impact.

What We Do

Weekly rehearsals, member-voted music, and performance.

We meet weekly to rehearse musical selections chosen by our members. These rehearsals lead to an end-of-semester performance, where we use music as a platform to support fundraising and community outreach.

In addition to performing, members can help with event planning, fundraising, outreach, playlist curation, and organization leadership.

Who Can Join

Open to all instruments and experience levels.

The Philanthropic Playlist is open to students of all instruments and experience levels. Whether you have years of performance experience, are returning to music after time away, or simply want to be part of a music-centered community, you are welcome here.

You do not have to be a music major to join. Anyone interested in music, philanthropy, fundraising, or community-building can get involved.

Why Music?

Music gives people a reason to gather.

Music creates shared experiences. It brings people into the same room, gives students a creative outlet, and creates opportunities to support causes beyond campus. The Philanthropic Playlist uses that connection to turn performance into impact.
